The Seize Quartiers (SQ) were the sixteen quarters that those of noble birth had to demonstrate to prove their nobility. Every person has sixteen great-great-grandparents in the fifth generation of ancestors, and so it important to show that all sixteen were of noble birth.
In this occasional series, I shall look at the SQ of various figures, to see what of interest comes up.....
